Nairobi – Ol Gaboli Lodge (Naibunga Community Conservancy)

Your safari begins at 7:30 a.m. when your Shanjoy Tours & Safaris driver-guide picks you up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport. After a short safari briefing, depart for Northern Kenya, travelling through scenic highland landscapes towards the Ewaso Nyiro region.

Enjoy a local lunch in Nanyuki Town before continuing to Ol Gaboli Lodge, beautifully situated along the Ewaso Nyiro River. This remarkable ecosystem supports one of the highest concentrations of endangered mammals in East Africa.

Arrive in the afternoon and enjoy an introductory game drive en route to the lodge, offering your first opportunities to spot wildlife in this unique landscape.

Spend the evening relaxing by the river as the sounds of the African wilderness come alive around you.

Overnight: Ol Gaboli Lodge

Day 2

Naibunga Community Conservancy – Walking Safari & Cultural Immersion

Rise early for a guided walking safari through the Naibunga Community Conservancy. Accompanied by knowledgeable local guides, discover the smaller wonders of the bush, learn about medicinal plants, wildlife tracking, and the intricate relationship between local communities and nature.

Return to the lodge for a memorable bush breakfast followed by a leisurely morning.

Later, immerse yourself in authentic Maasai cultural experiences, including visits to traditional homesteads (bomas), local markets, storytelling sessions, and demonstrations of traditional customs. Depending on community schedules, guests may also witness traditional livestock-related cultural practices.

In the late afternoon, enjoy another guided nature walk culminating in a sundowner experience along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River, where the golden African sunset provides the perfect backdrop.

Overnight: Ol Gaboli Lodge

Day 3

Naibunga – Ol Pejeta Conservancy

After breakfast, depart for Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located between the foothills of the Aberdare Ranges and the majestic slopes of Mount Kenya.

This world-renowned conservancy is famous for its rhino conservation efforts and is home to the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa, as well as the last remaining northern white rhinos on Earth.

Enjoy an extensive game drive through the conservancy, where wildlife sightings often include elephants, lions, buffalo, leopards, cheetahs, black and white rhinos, Grevy's zebras, and Jackson's hartebeests.

You will also visit the renowned Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya where rescued chimpanzees can be seen.

Overnight: Sweetwaters Serena Camp

Day 4

Ol Pejeta Conservancy – Samburu National Reserve

After breakfast, embark on a scenic drive north to Samburu National Reserve.

Arrive in time for lunch and some relaxation before heading out on an evening game drive. Samburu's dramatic landscape is framed by the iconic Mount Ololokwe and traversed by the life-giving Ewaso Nyiro River.

The reserve is home to a rich diversity of wildlife including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and numerous species uniquely adapted to the semi-arid environment.

Overnight: Ashnil Samburu Camp or Samburu Simba Lodge

Day 5

Full-Day Samburu National Reserve Safari

After breakfast, set off for a full-day game drive with a bush picnic lunch deep within the reserve.

Today offers excellent opportunities to search for the famous Samburu Special Five:

  • Grevy's Zebra
  • Reticulated Giraffe
  • Somali Ostrich
  • Beisa Oryx
  • Gerenuk

The reserve is also known for its large elephant herds, predators, and exceptional birdlife. The combination of unique wildlife, dramatic landscapes, and fewer crowds makes Samburu one of Kenya’s most rewarding safari destinations.

Return to the lodge in the evening after a full day of exploration.

Overnight: Ashnil Samburu Camp or Samburu Simba Lodge

Day 6

Samburu – The Ark, Aberdare National Park

After breakfast, journey south towards Aberdare National Park.

Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at the historic Aberdare Country Club before transferring to the iconic The Ark.

Designed to resemble Noah's Ark, this unique lodge overlooks a floodlit waterhole and salt lick that attract a constant stream of wildlife. Spend the evening relaxing on the viewing decks while observing elephants, buffalo, bushbuck, giant forest hogs, hyenas, and other animals as they come to drink.

This remarkable wildlife-viewing experience continues throughout the night, with the possibility of seeing animals without ever leaving the lodge.
