Nairobi to Amboseli
Our Shanjoy Tours and Safari driver/guide will pick you up from the hotel/residence at 7.30 am. Aboard the 4 x 4 tour Land Cruiser, the Safari will begin with targetted arrival at Amboseli National Park at lunchtime. Check-in and have lunch then wait for your late afternoon game drive.
- Dinner and overnight stay will be at Amboseli Sentrim Amboseli/AA Lodge.
Amboseli Full day Safari experience
After breakfast, you will leave the hotel with a packed picnic lunch for a full-day safari experience at the park.
The day begins with an optional visit to the Masai village for a cultural encounter. A visit reveals the singing and dancing that are an important part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A peek into their lives and social structures is a moving experience.
This is then followed by a game drive through the park. The changing habitat, with broken volcanic vents, mountainous forests, and open savanna make game drives a satisfying experience. Be on the lookout for large herds of African Elephant, blue wildebeest, Grant’s zebras, Cape buffaloes, lions, cheetahs, leopards, and Masai giraffes
Amboseli to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast checkout and drive to Lake Naivasha, the highest and most beautiful of the Rift Valley lakes. The water is clear at 1910m (6200f), and the lake is surrounded by dense clumps of papyrus (ancient Egyptian once used this to make paper). The papyrus is used as a perch by kingfishers, and herons hide in it while looking for food.
Naivasha is also another popular bird-watching destination (over 400 species have been recorded). It is also a popular weekend destination for Nairobi residents who come to sail, water ski, and fish. There are no crocodiles in the lake because the water is too cold for them due to the altitude, but there are many hippos. Vineyards along the lakeshore grow grapes for wine.
- Dinner & overnight stay at lake Naivasha SOPA, Simba lodge, Burch resort Naivasha
Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara
Leave early in the morning for the Masai Mara National Reserve. Arrive in time for lunch, then go on a game drive in the late afternoon. The Mara remains one of the few places on the planet where wildlife can still be found in the numbers that once roamed Africa's plains and forests. The Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of Wildebeest, Zebras, and attendant predators as the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem.
- Dinner and overnight stay at Enkorok Mara camp, Mara Simba lodge, AA lodge, Sentrim Mara.
Full Day Masai Mara Safari Experience
After breakfast, we'll go on a full-day game drive with a packed lunch. The reserve is well known for its black-maned lions as well as its abundant resident wildlife. Itis is one of the few places where you can see all the Big Five on a morning game drive.
Nearly 500 species of birds have been recorded, including 16 species of eagle, hawks and falcons, 6 species of vultures, 8 species of storks, and 4 species of bustard (including the Kori bustard, the world's heaviest flying bird).
- Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge/Camp
Masai Mara to Nairobi
After breakfast checkout and head back to Nairobi where you will be dropped off at the airport or your pre-booked hotel room in Nairobi.
