Why Governor’s Camp
Governors’ Camp, tucked away in the riverine forest along the meandering banks of the Mara River, whose waters abounding with bird life, hippo, and crocodile, is arguably the best viewing location in the Reserve. It is ideal for groups of friends, family, and couples who wish to get the best of everything that safari experience in the Mara has to offer.
The entire camp is under canvas with all the amenities of a luxury hotel. Some of the 25 tents are situated along the riverbed, nestled into the bush and offer unobstructed views of the Mara River. Other tents overlook the expansive grasslands of the Masai Mara. The tents let in an abundance of natural light and are spacious and bright. Each classic safari-style tent has a private verandah and an en suite bathroom. There’s a dining tent with breathtaking views of the plains and a bar tent with a balcony that faces the Mara River.
Some highlights that make Governors’ Camp stand out include:

From Africa’s heaviest flying bird (the Kori bustard) to the dazzling array of tiny sunbirds that flit between the flower blossoms. From Africa’s largest raptor (the martial eagle) to its smallest (the African pygmy falcon) as well as millions of filter feeding flamingos to the intricate nest builders (the weavers) – there’s no end to the assortment of birds that call Kenya ‘home’.
