In this Masai Mara Safari, we explore the wildlife and wonders of East Africa’s premier game park. It is famous for its spectacular display of animal life, landscapes, and indigenous culture.
Located in southwestern Kenya, and bordering Tanzania’s Serengeti, the Masai Mara is an area of preserved savannah wilderness. The Masai Mara is famous as the host of the Great Migration, an annual event where over a million wildebeest, zebras, and antelopes cross the Mara River from Serengeti. The dangers of crossing the crocodile-infested Mara River, and surviving the lions’ ambush at the river banks make this an unforgettable wildlife display.
Animals of the Masai Mara
The landscape has grassy plains and rolling hills which create a scenic picturesque allure. The Mara and Talek rivers provide a crucial source of life in the Mara ecosystem. This ecosystem supports a variety of animals including zebra, hippo, elephant, cheetah, leopard, Masai giraffe, and more.
Culture and Heritage
Originally belonging to the Masai community, the area around Masai Mara is dotted with villages (enkangs) of the Maasai people. For many visitors, visiting these villages is always a special treat to immerse in the local culture and traditions. You will love to join in the Masai dancing and listen to the historical stories about Mara from the local people.
